Estate-grown fruit, and estate crafted still and sparkling Pinot noir and Pinot gris. In the heart of Mendocino’s Anderson Valley, Lichen Estate was a sheep ranch for 150 years. Oaks, bays, and madrones lined the four creeks and dotted the rolling hills of their watershed. Every winter the oaks loss their leaves but the green ghostly garb of lichen remained. Lichen is everywhere here, from the Yorkville Highlands to the Mendocino Coast. Named "Lichen Estate" in honor of its beauty and grace. Lichen farms gently, meticulously, organically. They strive to leave their children and grandchildren land that is healthier than it was when they arrived in 2000.
Started in 2015 by Kelly and Noah Dorrance (co-founder and former Head Winemaker at Banshee Wines), Reeve is a small passion project named after their son. Kelly and Noah want to create balanced and elegant wines that pay homage to the beauty and possibility that California provides.
Owned and operated by the Licklider family - husband/wife duo Matt and Sara Licklider. The focus is on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Carignan from sites with older vines, interesting soil, and heritage clones. Sometimes the hunt for Pinot Noir uncovers other treasures like a coastal Syrah vineyard or a rare, mid-century planting of Valdiguie. Their fruit is purchased from family-owned vineyards spanning 200-miles and three counties (from the foggy valleys of Santa Cruz, the true Sonoma coast to the rugged mountains of Mendocino).
